Four illegitimate immigrants have been taken into custody in a mutual operation by the Coast Guard Police and Authority of Immigration and Checkpoints (ICA).
According to the police, the Coast Guard Police has noticed a speedboat inside the waters of Singapore which was heading towards the shoreline of Tanah Marah.
When the boat was stopped, four illegitimate immigrants whose ages were between 23 and 39 were detained and also 532 cartons of unpaid duty cigarettes were also seized.
As per the Police, the achievement of this mutual operation reaffirms the strong determination and resolve in cracking down the illicit activities in waters of Singapore.
They also informed that the police has taken a very serious view on illegitimate activities of smuggling and would act quickly on bringing the criminals to justice.
